The FLOAT collection is a series of modular furniture pieces, tables and wall shelving systems, designed using recovered industrial glass and steel. Presented at Dropcity in Progress during Milan Design Week 2024, the collection reflects a commitment to circular design and architectural heritage.
A key component of the collection is the modular shelving system, which originated from a collaborative effort with Park Associati to salvage original window glass from Palazzo Missori, a historic Milanese building designed by architect Marcello Piacentini. As part of its renovation, over 200 windows were slated for replacement: this project serves as a pilot initiative to repurpose architectural glass that would otherwise be discarded.
The FLOAT tables are made using salvaged glass panels collected over time by 6:AM Glassworks, highlighting an ongoing effort to integrate sustainability into high-end design. The collection showcases three distinctive glass finishes: green, fume, and extraclear, each with its own aesthetic qualities and history.
