An Archive for Modern Glass is a striking 5-meter-tall illuminated column composed of layered glass panels and a satin-finished steel structure. The installation merges Bricklab’s research into Jeddah’s modern architectural development with 6:AM Glassworks’ expertise in traditional Venetian glassmaking techniques, forming a dialogue between regional modernity and centuries-old craftsmanship.
Presented as part of the Arab Design Now exhibition at M7 Doha, the project was curated by Rana Beiruti. The exhibition explores how designers across the Arab world engage with themes of cultural heritage, sustainability, and contemporary design. An Archive for Modern Glass embodies these themes by referencing historical materials and production techniques while engaging with the environmental discourse through material selection and construction.
